Role Description: 

The Associate Attorney will work on-site in El Cajon, CA in a part-time capacity, supporting the firm’s legal practice through case handling and client service. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and correspondence, and assisting with case strategy and analysis. The role involves meeting with clients, gathering facts and documents, providing preliminary legal advice under supervision, and preparing files for hearings, mediations, and negotiations. The Associate Attorney will help manage case calendars, attend court appearances and administrative proceedings as needed, and participate in settlement discussions. Collaboration with the principal attorney and staff to maintain organized case files, meet deadlines, and ensure high-quality work product is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in Law, with the ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and case law accurately.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in Labor and Employment Law, including workplace disputes and compliance issues.
  • Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice to clients under supervision and in alignment with firm standards.
  • Proficiency in legal Research, including use of legal databases and preparation of concise research memoranda.
  • Skilled in Negotiation for settlement discussions, mediations, and informal dispute resolution.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in California, in good standing.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills, with attention to detail in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and ability to handle multiple matters in a part-time schedule.
  • Professional, respectful client communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a small office setting.
  • Prior experience in litigation or employment law practice is preferred but not strictly required.
